Simple Ways to Honor Your Mom

on Your Wedding Day…

With Mother’s Day right around the corner you may be busy selecting the perfect gift or planning a nice meal to show your mom how much she means to you. However, as we know Mother’s Day isn’t the only day of the year that we should be thinking of extra ways to express our love. Have you considered what role your mother will play on your wedding day? Follow our guideline below for simple ways to honor the woman you love most.

  1. Your bouquet

Selecting your flowers for your bouquet can be overwhelming with so many options and colors available! Your mom may be the perfect person to help in the decision making. Another small way to honor her is to tie in her favorite flower into your bouquet. If time permits, ask your photographer to take a ring shot of your hands and your mother’s hands over the bouquet you designed together!

  2. Special jewelry

Consider gifting your mother with a special bracelet or necklace on the day of your wedding. Not sure what to choose? Perhaps you could go jewelry shopping together for the big day. If your mother isn’t a big fan of trinkets, consider a gifting her with a special perfume. She’ll remember the fragrance along with memories of your wedding day.

  3. Recreate a photo from her wedding day

If you have a favorite shot from your mother’s wedding day consider recreating the pose with your photographer. Let your mom know about it the day-of, or better yet, surprise her with a special print after your wedding. She will enjoy it for years to come!

  4. Write her something special

Consider writing your mom a card or poem. This can be something private just for her or if you are planning wedding programs consider adding the message as a surprise.

  5. Include her in the day-of traditions

Every wedding is unique. Consider walking down the aisle with your mom or both of your parents. For the reception, mother / daughter dances can be especially heartwarming and a memory you both will cherish. If neither of these options appeal to you, consider including your mom in the getting ready fun! Treat her to hair and makeup on the day of your wedding or manicures a few days prior.

  6. Display her wedding photos

Celebrate your mother’s marriage with photos from her special day displayed near your guest book. Guests who attended both her wedding and yours will especially enjoy this gesture!

  7. Consider her day-of outfit

It’s common that the mother of the bride will wear colors that match your wedding theme. You can make your mom feel extra special by taking an afternoon to go shopping with her to find the perfect outfit. She will feel even more confident on the day of your wedding knowing it was a decision you made together!

  8. Ask her for your “something borrowed”

If you are planning to stick with tradition and want something borrowed for your wedding day consider asking for something of your mother’s. She may have a special trinket left over from her wedding day. Don’t forget to have your photographer capture this item in your detail shots!

  9. Share the little moments

Your mom will be there for the big moments of your wedding day, why not include her in some of the smaller moments as well? Having your mom there to help with invitations, day-of programs, or wedding favors. As a bride you can always use an extra set of hands you know and trust.

  10. Bring those you admire together
